What is this unit?

Welcome to "Exploring Ancient Worlds through Art"!
This unit features a selection of ancient objects in the Getty Museum collection that complement middle and high school curricula across the United States. Students can explore the cultures and histories of the ancient world through content that includes:
Featured art objects: View images and read about ancient Greek, Roman, Parthian (Iran), and Etruscan artworks to discover more about why they were made and what they were used for while building related vocabulary skills through matching activities.
Take a closer look: Analyze objects and take interactive assessments, including sentence completion, image labeling, and multiple-choice questions.
Activities: Engage in art activities such as comparing works of art, designing functional objects, and creating narrative line drawings.
Videos: Watch short student-friendly videos to deepen your understanding of these art objects.
Together these resources offer students opportunities to explore the art of the ancient world on their own, both in or outside of the classroom.
Additional classroom resources about ancient art are available on the Getty Museum’s website.
